Amogh Gaonkar, the Sindhudurg district superintendent of police confirmed that the charges of social boycott levied by the Hewalekars against the villagers were true. A case was filed following this on Tuesday, against several villagers in Kudal Taluka including the Sarpanch, Madhukar Parab.

"Since the prohibition of social boycott bill is awaiting Presidential assent, cases at present would be filed under provisions of Indian Penal Code," the officer said. Paramanand Hewalekar who had arrived at the Mantralaya along with his wife Preetam on last Wednesday had drawn the attention of the CM himself, who had invited them to his bungalow to perform Ganesh Puja. Upon learning that the village had ostracised the Hewalekars, Devendra Fadnavis had ordered an immediate enquiry with the local police of the district which lead to a series of revelations about the incident.

The invitation to Varsha bungalow and subsequent findings confirming charges of molestation against the Hewalekars resulted in a barrage of trolls flooding the social media. Sindhudurg police however recorded statements of the villagers in addition to spot verification and panchanama at Hewalekar's house on Friday which ascertained that the alleged social boycott was true.
