After Pokharan road number 1 it is Pokharan road number 2 that is set to become bigger and better.Thane Municipal Corporation has already managed to vacate 800 constructions on both the sides of the road. Moreover, people who will lose their houses in road widening have also been given alternate accommodation.
Bigger roads in Thane city are set to become a reality as after the station area the TMC has now taken up the road widening work of Pokharan road number 2. The road widening work of Pokharan road number 1 which is one of the busiest junctions in the city.

There are many houses which will be demolished for the road widening work and TMC commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal assured them that they will be rehabilitated before the work can go on. Over 150 people were given rental housing by the civic body.
The road which is currently at 25 feet will be widened to 40 feet thereby ensuring smooth flow of traffic. The work for Pokharan road number 1 is till on-going and TMC officials ensured that those shopkeepers who lost their space for the civic work were making good use of the alternate shops given to them. "TMC commissioner made inquiries about the project affected shops/businesses that were given alternate commercial spaces," says Sandip Malvi, public relations officer, TMC.
Jaiswal checked if these project affected people at Vasant Vihar Chowk and Gladys Alvares road were using the space, whether there were any illegal shops/businesses set up or if they had rented out their spaces.
