Oriental Public School in Jogeshwari, which was going to shut down classes for its current batch of state board students, has now revoked its decision. The management has decided to continue the education of the current students till the last batch graduates.

On April 13, around 250 parents accompanied by their children held a protest outside the school following the school's decision to shut SSC classes. The institute's management had initially asked the parents to pull out their children so the institute could wrap up the state board affiliation and start with IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) board.

BD Puri, in-charge assistant director, school education, said, "We made the management understand that they cannot shut the school like this. They have to complete the education of students who are in the state board. They promised us they wont shut the state board school or disturb it."

On Thursday, the school came out with a circular (copy with dna) for parents, stating that the primary and secondary sections of the school will continue to operate through the academic year 2015-16 and will reopen on June 15. It will continue operations till the school's final batch under the SSC board passes out.

One of the parents said on the condition of anonymity, "It is a big relief to parents that the school is not shutting down for our students. We are thankful to the management for this decision."
