The winter session of the state assembly would be held between December 7 and 23 at Nagpur.

The Fadnavis Government which would be completing one year in office on October 31 is likely to face the combined opposition of Congress-NCP during the winter session on many issues. The Congress-NCP would try to catch the government on the wrong foot by raising the issues of supplementary demands along with law and order situation, alleged scams in Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan and tax levied on petrol and diesel for drought mitigation.

The winter session would be yet another test for the Fadnavis government. It would also be interesting to see whether the chief minister goes for any cabinet expansion before this session. At present, the Fadnavis government is working with 30 ministers when the Constitution provides for appointing 42 in the state since the strength of the assembly is 288.
