Mumbai University leaps to 58th position in BRICS ranking from 68 a year ago

The varsity has topped in the state and secured 3rd place in the country among traditional universities in India.

The University of Mumbai has made the maximum progress in the top 100 list of BRICS university ranking. It has jumped from 68th position last year to 58 this year. The QS Rankings-BRICS was released Thursday. It is designed to highlight the top universities in the five BRICS countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The varsity has topped in the state and secured 3rd place in the country among traditional universities in India.

According to BRICS university ranking, it has established its name in industrial collaborations and runs various professional courses. At national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and out-reaches activities.

In the last five years, it has seen 104% increase in undergraduate students, 112% increase in post-graduate students and 147% increase in distance - education students.

There is also 156% increase in the number of research papers published in international journals. More than 80 teachers are on various professional bodies. Eighteen national/international awards have been won by its teachers in the last five years.

According to the indicators, the academic reputation of MU has a score of 61.50, while its employer reputation has got 93.80, citations per paper 87.60. Papers per faculty ranks 99.90 and faculty staff with PhD is 100.00.
