Man held for hacking government website in Mumbai

A senior officer from the cyber crime cell said a case has been registered at the BKC cyber police station and a probe is underway.

A man has been arrested for allegedly hacking government websites and and posting defamatory messages against government officials. The accused has been identified as Sarvesh Yadav.

A senior officer from the cyber crime cell said a case has been registered at the BKC cyber police station and a probe is underway.

"The Internet Protocol address of the computer that he used to hack the websites was traced within Mumbai. We followed it and Yadav was taken into the custody. We have seized his mobile phone, laptop and other electronic materials," said the officer.

The accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. "He was produced in court and has been sent to police custody," the officer added.

In another cyber crime case, the Mulund police have arrested three persons for allegedly duping a 70-year-old Mulund man of Rs 4 lakh by luring him with a bonus on his insurance policy.
