Maharashtra civic polls: Shiv Sena-BJP alliance wins Aurangabad, Badlapur, Ambarnath; NCP retains Navi Mumbai

The results were declared on Thursday.

The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance has turned out to be victorious after winning in three of the four civic polls on Thursday. Meanwhile,  NCP retained Navi Mumbai.

Aurangabaad 

The Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance retained power in the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation. Though facing strong fight from rival Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the Shiv Sena won 29 and BJP won 22 out of 113 seats. The Masjil-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won an impressive 25 seats, making it the second-largest party. The Congress and the NCP won 10 and three seats respectively, while others got 24 seats. 

Navi Mumbai  

Navi Mumbai politician Ganesh Naik's National Congress Party (NCP) won the Navi Mumbai civic polls by bagging 52 seats out of 111 seats. Shiv Sena came in a close second by winning 38 seats and its ally BJP won six seats. The Congress won 10 seats and five seats have gone to independent candidates.

Badlapur and Ambarnath

The Shiv Sena-BJP coalition emerged victorious in Badlapur and Ambarnath civic polls as well.

In Badlapur, of the total 47 seats, the Shiv Sena got 24 seats and the BJP won 20 seats - the alliace scalping a tally of 44. The NCP got two seats while the Congress failed to win any seat. One seat went to an Independent candidate.

In Ambarnath, of the total 57 seats, the Shiv Sena won 26 seats while the BJP won 10 seats - so the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance ended with a clear majority of 36. The Congress and the NCP won eight and five seats respectively. The Raj Thackeray lead-Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) opened its kitty here with 2 seats, while 6 seats went to the Independent candidates.
