Police Inspector Gnyaneshwar Ganore, whose son Siddhant Ganore stabbed his mother to death in their Vakola home before leaving a macabre message written in her blood and fleeing the city, revealed that he had disowned the 22-year-old and will not extend legal aid to him. "We are not providing any legal aid (to him), nor do I want to keep in touch with him," Ganore told DNA.This apart, the accused told police that his mother would often quarrel with his father over her suspicions of his extra-marital affair.

When contacted, friends and family of Ganore said, "His father is furious with him. He (Ganore) regrets that he was not able to receive his son's call at the time of the incident."

An officer associated with the case said, "We saw him (the accused) running out of the building at around 8pm on the night of the incident. We have also scanned CCTV footage of the Santa Cruz railway station where he was seen boarding a train to Borivli".

The officer added, "Siddhant fled to Jaipur first, and was later traced to Jodhpur. We lost contact with him till he logged into his social media account. We were then informed about his whereabouts, and informed the Jodhpur police, leading to his arrest".

Speculating on the cause of dispute between the mother and son, police said Deepali began asking Siddhant about the results of an exam he appeared for. The constant badgering did not go down well with the accused. Siddhant tried to end his life, but contacted his father. In the statement to the Vakola police, Siddhant revealed, "My mother was suspicious about everything and suspected my father of having an extra-marital affair. My mother would call my father every hour."

Deepali Ganore, the wife of Ganore who had initially investigated the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, was found dead in her Santa Cruz home earlier this week. Ganore said he found her lying in blood when he returned from work on Wednesday. The Vakola police traced Siddhant to a hotel in Jodhpur and arrested him.

Siddhant also revealed that after his mother returned to from London after completing a law course, she would ask him about his studies. This frustrated Siddhant.

"The accused was weak in studies and had failed in his exams a few times. The restrictions imposed on him triggered an adverse reaction," said an officer associated with the case.

Mahadeo Wavale, Senior Inspector, Vakola police station, said, "We have arrested the accused under sections 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code. He has been remanded to judicial custody till June 2".
