Mira-Bhayander residents feel that they have been misled by none other than chief minister Devendra Fadnavis himself. On Saturday, he announced that in four months the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Dahisar East-Kasarvadavli (Ghodbunder Road) metro line would be ready as a study is underway when the fact is that the alignment is not part of the 118-km metro network for which DPRs are being prepared.

During a public function organised by the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) on Saturday, Fadnavis said, "The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has already been asked to conduct a study to extend the metro line from Dahisar (East) to Kasarvadavli. The report will be ready in the next four months." Fadnavis made the announcement after residents of Mira-Bhayander and parties across political lines initiated a campaign pressing for an extension of the metro line.

On June 17 Fadnavis himself gave the DMRC the mandate to update and prepare DPRs for four metro lines totalling 118-kms. These four lines are 40-km Dahisar-Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro-2 corridor (Rs12,000 crore), 40-km Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali Metro-4 corridor via GPO and R.A.Kidwai Marg (Rs12,000 crore), 27-km Dahisar East-Andheri East-Bandra East Metro-5 corridor (Rs8,100 crore) and 11-km Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road Metro-6 corridor (Rs3,300 crore). Fadnavis, who also heads the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), did not shortlist Dahisar East-Kasarvadavli as a metro corridor. Lakhs of commuters, who travel in overcrowded suburban locals, feel misled by this development.

Moreover, on Saturday Shiv Sena's elected representatives like member of parliament Rajan Vichare and MLA Pratap Sarnaik kept themselves away from the public function. Sena's claim is that it was a civic function and the Bharatiya Janata Party made it seem like its own party's rally. Elections for MBMC have been scheduled for 2017.

118-km Metro Network Includes:
40-km Dahisar-Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd
40-km Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali
27-km Dahisar East-Andheri East-Bandra East
11-km Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road
