An extensive drive against illegal constructions and hawkers has been initiated by the R/South Ward in Kandivli
Just a day after the Assistant Commissioner of N/Ward was suspended for showing leniency towards illegal constructions in his ward, assistant commissioners of other wards seem to be getting their act together. To start with, an extensive drive against illegal constructions and hawkers has been initiated by the R/South Ward in Kandivli and the K/West Ward in Andheri (West).
Sahebrao Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner from R/South Ward in Kandivli, called for the demolition of unauthorised shanties and temporary structures under the Thakur Complex Flyover in Kandivli (East) on Tuesday, and evicted illegal hawkers from Lokhandwala Complex from the same area. "At least 50 shanties and temporary structures were removed from under the flyover. Also, 32 hawkers were evicted from Lokhandwala Complex," said an official from the R/South Ward.
Prashant Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner of K/West (Andheri) ordered the demolition of six unauthorised permanent structures at Narayan Chavan Marg in Andheri (West). Also, eight illegal stalls at DN Nagar were demolished.
"We will ensure that these structures don't sprout up again. The area will be regularly monitored," said Gaikwad.
