Sincerity and truthfulness in one’s dealings is often the hallmark of an achiever in life. And celebs seem to agree wholeheartedly.

Actress Dipannita Sharma says, “Sincerity and honesty is really the essence of what I’m all about. Young people nowadays feel that it’s uncool to be too sweet but I tend to believe in the goodness of things. I don’t endorse being cynical or skeptical towards people or situations in life. I try and see the good side of things because it makes me a happier person.”

Dipannita adds she’s never believed in shortcuts to success. “Whether it was Mahatma Gandhi, Ratan Tata or Bill Gates, sincerity made them what they were. Truthfulness is a tougher way to take but it’s always rewarding.”

Designer Azeem Khan feels that being cynical about someone is demeaning to the other person.

“You have to respect other people and if you really respect them you can never be cynical or sarcastic.” Azeem says it’s a quality he and wife Sameena have ensured that they pass onto their children. “I’d like them to be sincere and truthful even if they have to hurt themselves a bit being so.”

Fitness expert Leena Mogre embraces the idea of sincerity with alacrity. “I feel that to be an achiever one must have these positive qualities otherwise one can’t get ahead in life.  When you’re interacting with someone, be absolutely truthful in putting your point of view across.” Leena believes that for any long-term relationship, one has to be oneself and put both the positives and negatives of the situation across clearly.

Shaina NC, whose political dalliances take her into public life on a regular basis, feels that at least with one’s family and friends one must be sincere and truthful. “We live in a hypocritical society and people often say things in praise that they don’t mean. Yet I feel that when one has achieved something of value people appreciate that and return that effort with sincere tributes.”

She adds, “The greatest achievers tend to be sincere because they don’t need to be anything else.”
