The exhibition being held at the Kanoria Center for Art, promises to be an exciting mix of contemporary art along with the traditional ones. Art generally is understood as elitist, and the business of rich people. What we have forgotten is that what we call tradition in everyday life is an expression of art and it does not belong to the gallery alone but exists in our surroundings too.

The art works that have been exhibited are a unique mixture of
festive colours and creativity. They pull you back for a second glimpse. “While some of the portraits here are a little fierce, the rest of the art work makes me want to take a second look. The colour schemes used are absolutely gorgeous and the same goes for the paintings,” says Sheetal Patwa, a visitor at the gallery.

“I think there is a need to educate people about art and the ways of appreciating it. There is a large section of youth that would love to get involved with various artistic activities but there is no proper guidance available. Such displays of various types of art under one roof help expand our horizon,” says Milan Seth, student at LD College.

Sumesh Kamballur, Anil Majmudar and Shyam Pahapalkar’s acrylic art work on canvass, Anil Prajapati’s etching on paper, Ajay Chakradhar’s mix media, and Dilip Panchal’s mono-print on paper are all being exhibited.

Other artists like Amrendar Naudi’s Ink on Paper, Ashsih Sarkar’s Oil on canvass, Hiral Trivedi’s charcoal works, Sanam CN’s work on Fibre glass are some of the other works that have been put up at the show.

The exhibition is on till June 5 from 11am to 5pm at Kanoria Centre for Arts.
