Is your lifestyle becoming your enemy? A few minutes after fashion designer Rohit Bal was declared ‘out of danger’ but kept under strict observation in the ICU of a hospital in Gurgaon, his friends went into damage control mode saying that the designer was not partying the previous night.

Rohit’s live-in partner and model Lalit Tehan reveals Rohit was aware of his poor health because he had asked him to keep medicines handy.

Tehan says, “He (Rohit Bal) was not partying the previous night. In fact, he had been complaining about uneasiness for some time now. We had kept Sorbitrate (drug for congestive heart failure) handy by his bedside. Yesterday (Tuesday) evening, he said he had acute chest pain and suspected that it could be a heart attack. I put two Sorbitrates under his tongue and rushed him to the hospital.”

Designer Rocky S admits that the there are times that a designer can’t help but attend parties thrown by ‘close friends’. “You can call that a professional hazard. But I keep a check on my diet and go to a gym daily. If you are not conscious about your diet and work-outs, then your lifestyle will surely get in the way because of our hectic and constant socialising,” says Rocky.

Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee also admitted that health was the primary reason that he has stopped going to parties.

“If you call me after 11.30 pm, you’ll find my mobile is switched off. I have stopped attending late-night parties because it totally destroys your system. I don’t agree when you say that partying is necessary for work. If you are a good designer, you get noticed anyway,” Sabyasachi says.

Rohit’s close pal, designer Varun Bahl, says, “We party for fun, not for work. We (designers) have a different lifestyle, but yes, it always pays to be careful about your health.”
