In the age of PlayStation and X-Box games, who would even remember about the retro board games you played in your childhood days such as Scrabble and Scotland Yard?

The thought may not even strike many today. But interestingly, a Facebook group called Board Games Bash has started a community of members who meet up every Wednesday at Mocha Mojo, Bandra, to play various board games.

Started by Tarun Durga, the entire objective of Board Games Bash is to offer people a more interactive alternative to conventional forms of entertainments and night outs. It’s also a very good opportunity to meet interesting new people. Many people, unknown to each other, simply walk in and sit down and start playing the game together. By the end of it all you have around 5-10 new friends.

The group tries to introduce fresh games every week. Last Wednesday a new addition was the fun drinking game showed in the Quentin Tarantino movie Inglorious Basterds.

You place a chit containing a character name from a famous movie on the forehead of someone sitting next to you. Everyone in the team knows your identity but you have only 20 questions to figure it out. Other equally interesting games that were played include Monopoly, Cluedo, Pictionary, Jenga, Taboo, UNO and Boxers n Briefs.

On an average, the group attracts a crowd of 50-60 people ever Wednesday night. The session starts at about 8.30 pm and go on till midnight. As of now there is no membership fee for joining the group. So people just log on to the internet to become a member on Facebook and get ready to have some fun with lots of halla-gulla.
