Seeing the passenger load due to upcoming Kumbh Mela at Allahabad, the Railways has re-started the Jaipur-Allahbad superfast express which was earlier partially cancelled by the Railways citing fog conditions.

Railways had earlier suspended the service of this train between Jaipur and Mathura anticipating foggy weather conditions along this route. However, now, seeing the rush of passengers willing to take a holy dip in Kumbh,  the Railways has restored this train, informed the Railway officials.

Officials said that in case there is fog-like condition the movement of the train will be done with usual precautions taken by Railways during movement of trains in dense fog conditions.

Due to fog, large number of trains get delayed as the visibility decreases on tracks and therefore the passengers have to wait for several hours to board the trains or the trains reach their destination late.

Being the occasion of Kumbh, the Railways is expecting heavy rush of passengers.  Therefore this train will re-start from January 14 and will make 16 trips between Jaipur and Allahabad till February 12.

Similarly, while on return journey from Allahabad to Jaipur, the train will be available from January 13 and will make similar 16 trips till February 11.

In the Northern parts of the country usually fog condition start prevailing in the months of December and January and therefore the Railways as a precautionary measure, every year, cancels services of many trains passing through routes like Mathura.

Sources informed that the Railway Board constantly reviews the weather conditions prevailing in the country and based on that , the services of trains are either suspended or restored.

Railways at the same time wishes  to cash in on the Kumbh rush and to make the travel less expensive for the passengers, Railways had few days back waived off the fair surcharge levied from the passengers going to Kumbh Mela being held in Allahabad.

Earlier in fairs, there was a surcharge of Rs 10 in second class coach while Rs 20 was levied in third AC coach. For second AC and first class AC, surcharge of Rs 30 and Rs 40  respectively was applicable which has now been removed.
