No respite from heatwave, Barmer sizzles at 46.6°C

Churu recorded the highest temperature of 47.5 degrees Celsius in the state on Saturday.

Heatwave conditions continue to prevail over many parts of Rajasthan. The temperatures across districts settled well above the 44-degree mark, with a few parts even surpassing 46 degrees Celsius. Churu recorded the highest temperature of 47.5 degrees Celsius in the state on Saturday. In fact, Churu was the hottest place in the country followed by Sri Ganganagar with a maximum temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius.

According to local MeT office report, heatwave condition continued to prevail in some parts of the state. In capital Jaipur, maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 44.2 and 31 degrees Celsius respectively, both were 3 degrees above normal level. 

In Barmer maximum temperature was recorded at 46.6 while Bikaner, Jaislamer and Kota recorded highest temperature above 45 degrees Celsius. In rest of the station except Udaipur, the maximum temperature was recorded above 44 degrees Celsius.

MeT has issued warning that heat wave condition likely to continue in some parts of the state. According to weathermen, the reason for this high temperatures can be attributed to the warm northwesterly winds blowing over the region from the hotter regions of Balochistan and Sindh in Pakistan wherein the maximum temperatures are getting arrested near 47 degree Celsius.

Forecast

As per forecast, sky will remain clear on Sunday while day temperature may rise to 45 degrees Celsius. As both the maximum and minimum temperatures are on high, hot day conditions are expected to prevail. As per Skymet Weather, until May 28 heatwave conditions would continue in parts of the state.
