Jhalawar jawan given teary adieu

Army commando Mukut Bihari Meena (25) was on Saturday morning cremated with full state honours at his native place Ladaniya village in Khanpur area of Jhalawar district. Thousands of people from across Hadouti region, along with army, police and administrative officials paid their last respects to the jawan as they bid him a teary adieu. 

Meena was on Wednesday afternoon martyred in forests of Kupwada region in Jammu and Kashmir during army’s encounter with militants.

Meena’s five-month-old daughter Aarvi performed the last rites. Prior to that, additional district collector of Jhalawar Bhawani Singh Palawat read out condolence message by chief minister Vasundhara Raje.

The 21 Army Sikh regiment and personnel of Rajasthan Police gave guard of honour to the martyr with gun fire salute by army men.  Earlier in the morning, the martyr’s body reached Ladaniya village in army truck. On Friday, the brave jawan, paratrooper Mukut Bihari Meena’s mortal remains arrived at the Jaipur Airport where representatives of the Armed Forces and the Rajasthan government paid homage to him and bid him final farewell. Defence sources said that GOC in chief, South Western Command, Lieutenant General Cherish Mathson and chief minister Vasundhara Raje were among those who paid homage to the departed soul.

The chief minister’s  cabinet colleague Yunus Khan, Member of Parliament from Jaipur, Ramcharan Bohra and Jaipur mayor Ashok Lahoti were among those who arrived at the airport to pay their respect to the martyr on Friday.
