A 60-year-old woman was brutally murdered while her husband who tried to rescue her received serious injuries late last night, police said today.
The woman, identified as Kopli Devi and her husband Hari Ram were sleeping in their thatched house in nearby Katehra village when few unidentified persons entered the house, and attacked them with an axe.
The accused persons chopped off the woman's legs to take the silver anklets and decamped, they said. Hari Ram is receiving treatment at a hospital and is reported to be serious. No arrested have been made so far and investigation is on, police added.
