We need a second green revolution: Haryana governor

Haryana governor Jagannath Pahadia today called for a second green revolution proposing transition from primary agriculture to secondary in order to tackle poverty and enhance production.
    
"There is a great need of bringing second Green Revolution with an 'end-to-end' approach in the country where production and productivity patterns are tied up with market and consumers," Pahadia said.
    
He was speaking at the inaugural function of the 'International Conference on Frontiers in Reproductive Biotechnology and the 21st annual meeting of the Indian Society for the study of reproduction and fertility' at the National Dairy Research Institut.
    
Pahadia expressed concern over rising population pointing out that there was imminent need to control booming population and people should go about it with zeal and spirit.
     
The governor said there was no food security in the country which is the dire need of the time.
     
He said livestock could play a crucial role in ensuring food security as majority of it is reared by the small farmers and landless people.
