More than 100 Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists gathered near the Ellisbridge police station on Sunday to protest the attack on police on Saturday and condemned the action by local butchers of Juhapura.

“These butchers have no fear for the law,”alleged Raju Patel, secretary of the VHP, Ahmedabad. He alleged that they attack anyone who comes their way, be it the members of the
outfit or even policemen on duty.

“This is the second such incident of attack in one week,” he said. On October 25, three VHP members were allegedly attacked in Dariapur by local butchers. Some members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad had a scuffle with the locals near Popatiyawad of Dariapur on Tuesday night at 1 am. When the VHP members visited the street near Nasir pan parlor to see if any cows were being illegally brought there, some butchers protested their presence and also beat them up.

As a result of the scuffle three activists had to be admitted to the VS hospital with injuries. One of them was also operated for severe wounds on his leg.

“State government has passed a law to stop the cow slaughtering, however, the situation here tells a different story altogether. After our members, they attacked the policemen in Juhapura on Saturday. We demand stringent action against such attacks,”Patel demanded.
