Uncle-nephew duo arrested for raping woman in Delhi

An uncle-nephew duo were arrested for allegedly raping a young woman on consecutive days and making a video clip of the incident on their mobile phone, police said today.

The arrested have been identified as Shorum Chauhan, 41, and his nephew Umesh, 38,, both residents of Madanpur Khadar. The incident took place on Monday.

Chauhan had gone to the victim's house and asked her to rush to his house as his wife wanted to talk to her. The victim is fighting a divorce case in a court and is staying with her parents.

"The victim went to his house and Chauhan's wife was not there. Chauhan and Umesh then allegedly raped her and recorded it on their mobile phone," a senior police official said.

They also allegedly threatened to circulate the video if she approached police.

Chauhan and Umesh again allegedly raped the woman on Tuesday.

"They wanted to take her outside Delhi and were troubling her. She then approached police and complained. We have recovered the mobile phone and arrested the duo," the official said.

They were also held in a 2003 rape case and served a five-year-jail term.
