UK passenger evacuated from ship by coast guard in Kerala

Responding to a mid-sea medical emergency, Indian Coast Guard evacuated a 31-year-old UK national from on board a Sudan bound supply vessel from Sri Lanka.

The evacuation was carried out on Friday after the coast guard station at Vizinjam in Kerala was alerted by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre at Mumbai, coast guard said here today in a statement.

On receiving the message, a coast guard ship evacuated the person, who had suffered a fracture on his left leg, from the supply vessel 'Sea Lion'.

He has been admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for treatment, the release said.
