Two injured in police firing on ULFA militiants in Assam

Two persons - a primary school student and a rickshaw puller were seriously injured in police firing during and encounter with ULFA militants in Assam's Kamrup (rural) district today.

Two persons - a primary school student and a rickshaw puller were seriously injured in police firing during and encounter with ULFA militants in Assam's Kamrup (rural) district today.
 
Police intercepted two ULFA militants when they were going in a rickshaw to a gas agency in the silk town of Swalkuchi to extort money.
 
The police fired upon ultras during the encounter but the bullet hit the rickshaw puller and a ten year-old class four student who was standing near by.
 
Both the injured have been rushed to Guwahati Medical College Hospital in a serious condition.
 
Police arrested one of the militants and seized a grenade from him. The other managed to escape, the police said.
