Two girls raped in Uttar Pradesh

Two girls, one of them a Dalit, were raped in separate incidents in Faizabad and Ambedkar Nagar districts of Uttar Pradesh, a top police officer said here today.

A Dalit girl in a complaint to police in Ambedkar Nagar district had alleged she was raped by one Parmanand Pandey a month back, UP special director general of police Brij Lal told reporters here.

He said the girl had alleged that Pandey called her on pretext of some domestic work and outraged her modesty.

"Pandey has been arrested," the SDGP said.

In Faizabad, a girl, in a complaint to police, alleged she was raped by two persons while returning from the market yesterday, the SDGP said.

He said both had been arrested.
