There are attempts to create rift within NDA: Sharad Yadav

JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav today said the alliance between his party and the BJP in Bihar would remain intact and charged that some elements were operating "from behind the scene" to create a rift between the allies.

"The JD(U)-BJP alliance is intact .... there are some elements who are operating from behind the scene to create a rift within NDA, but they will not not succeed," Yadav told reporters here on his arrival from New Delhi.

When his attention was drawn to the proposed visit of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi to Bihar, Yadav claimed their visit would not impact the electoral prospects of NDA which was "set to stage a comeback" in the state.

"Frequent visits of central ministers will not find much favour as people have already made up their mind to give the NDA another chance for all-round growth of Bihar," he said.

The JD(U) president also dismissed the charge of Congress
ministers in the Manmohan Singh government that Nitish Kumar
government had failed to utilise funds made available by the
Centre under various projects.

"The Centre gave only Rs 1000 crore against the state's demand for Rs 14000 crore for relief and rehabilitation of Kosi flood victims," he said and accused the Centre of meting out step-motherly treatment to states ruled by non-Congress
parties.

The JD(U) leader, chief minister Nitish Kumar and deputy chief minister SK Modi later flew to Gidhaur to attend the 'shradh' of former union minister Digvijay Singh, who passed away in London recently.
