Tehmina Sunny, a Gujarati, plays lead role in ‘Elevator’

Tehmina Sunny, a British-born actress of Indian descent, is playing a lead role in the terrorism-themed thriller Elevator, now being shot in Los Angeles. Sunny hails from a Gujarati family, and speaks Gujarati and Hindi.

Sunny, who has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Leeds, was born and raised in London. She has spent time travelling through India, Africa and Europe. 

She was a talented singer/storywriter and had initially planned to pursue a musical career. Having taken her first acting class to improve her songs, she soon developed a passion for theatre.

Her first stint in the television and film production was in the Oscar-nominated feature Children of men. Thereafter, she went on to work in various broadcast productions. Her ever-improving CV also includes a span of work with award-winning director Mike Figgis on a short film based on the novel 'The Ground Beneath Her Feet' by Salman Rushdie.

Roles on Undercovers, NCIS, Heroes and Californication are her American TV credits.

Expected to be released in 2011, Elevator is the first American film by award-winning Norwegian director Stig Svendsen, whose directorial debut was Norwegian film Radio Pirates.

The film is written and produced by award-winning screenwriter/producer Marc Rosenberg.
