Teenaged girl rescued, kidnapper arrested in Jammu

Police today claimed to have rescued a teenaged girl, who was kidnapped from Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district, with the arrest of the main accused in Delhi.
 
Heman Kumar Manhas, a teacher in the government high school at Nichla tehsil in Samba district, had kidnapped the minor girl and managed to escape along with her on August 13, a police spokesperson said.
 
On receipt of the information, police swung into action and raided different places in Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pahar Ganj in Delhi where the accused allegedly stayed along with the girl, he said.
 
Later, the police succeeded in apprehending the kidnapper from a Volvo bus at Red Fort in New Delhi on August 21, the spokesperson said.
 
The girl was rescued and handed over to her parents after conducting legal formalities, he said, adding a case has been registered against the accused and further investigations were on.
