About 1,500 powerloom workers at Anthiyur, a textile hub, have been demanding a wage hike.

The strike by about 1,500 powerloom workers at Anthiyur, a textile hub, demanding a wage hike, entered the sixth day today.
Powerloom owners said they were incurring minimum Rs50 lakh production loss every day, and they have incurred losses to the tune of more than Rs3 crore in the past six days. They said as on date they are having orders of about Rs20 crore from wholesale textile dealers.
Anthiyur and nearby Thavittupalayam are noted for production of towels, bed-sheets and other textile goods.
