Surat man kills fiancée out of suspicion, ends life in Surat

Suspecting his fiancée of having an affair with someone, a youth killed her. Later he also committed suicide. The incident took place in Surat

The body of the girl was found near a dry rivulet at NH no 6 in Bajipura near Bardoli, on March 13. During investigation, the girl was identified as Riddhi Prajapati, 18, resident of Sachin and student of B.Com at K P Commerce College in Surat.

While Valod police were investigating the case, her fiancé Atul Variya committed suicide at his office at Nanpura, where he worked as computer operator. The step shocked police officials and Riddhi's family members. Preliminarily, all thought that Atul took the drastic step as he was unable to bear the loss. However, police found that Atul had killed Riddhi and later, afraid of being caught, he committed suicide.

Investigation revealed Atul killed Riddhi as he suspected her of having an affair with a boy in her college. “Atul claimed he dropped Riddhi at her college on March 13, but his cell-phone location shows that he was near Bajipura," D G Kantharia, circle-police inspector of Surat rural police, said.
