The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is inching towards getting hold of Yashpal Chudasama, brother of suspended IPS officer Abhay Chudasama. Sources said the CBI has found a few links to show alleged nexus between Yashpal, who heads a finance company, and Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
CBI officials have found some important links which show that Sohrabuddin was in contact not only with Abhay, who was allegedly using Sohrabuddin for extortion, but also with his brother Yashpal. The CBI had issued summons to Yashpal asking him to remain present before it a few months back, but Yashpal did not turn up. He allegedly flew out of the country.
Ajay Patel, chairman of Ahmedabad District Co-operative Bank, has also been summoned by the CBI. Sources said that the CBI wants to dig out details related to Yashpal and Sohrabuddin from Patel. Source said that the purpose of nexus between Yashpal and Sohrabuddin could be clear after questioning of Patel. “To know the exact reason why Yashpal was helping Sohrabuddin is one of the main aspects of summoning Patel,” a source said.
Meanwhile, the CID (Crime) investigating the Tulsi Prajapati case claimed that the third person accompanying Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausarbi until they were picked up by Gujarat ATS in November 2005, was Kalimuddin Shaikh.
CBI sleuths had allegedly found that Kalimuddin is a Naxalite from Andhra Pradesh and knew Sohrabuddin. “He had hosted a feast for Sohrabuddin and his wife when they were in Hyderabad and accompanied them till the bus stand to see them off,” a CBI official said.
The CBI sleuths had reportedly found that the third person with Sohrabuddin was Tulsi Prajapati and not Kalimuddin. However, the CBI has started looking for Kalimuddinn who is hiding somewhere in Hyderabad.
