Metro trains were delayed for some time today in the national capital due to a technical problem causing inconvenience to passengers during the evening hours.

Metro officials said the delay was for "only for few minutes" as the serial number of train got lost due to software malfunctioning.

"Since the number of a train was lost due to some software malfunctioning others trains could not run. Then we reset the serial number of all running trains and this caused some delay," an official said.

However, passengers alleged that the trains were delayed for about 15-20 minutes and "crowded like anything". Rajan, a software engineer, said he had to wait for at least 20 minutes to board a metro train from Rajiv Chowk. "The train came after 20 minutes. When I boarded it it was very slow," he said.
