SIDBI eyes 24% credit growth in Gujarat for FY13

Apex body for credit to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the country, Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi) has targeted 24% credit growth in Gujarat for financial year 2012-13, officials said.

“Our new loan portfolio in the April – June quarter is at Rs222 crore. We target to disburse close to Rs1,500 crore during the year. We are looking at 24% credit growth to MSME during the year,” regional manager of Sidbi, KC Bhanoo said. Total outstanding loan portfolio for the bank at the end of March 2012 stood at Rs1,280 crore.

With changing times, services and products offered by Sidbi has also been changed. Besides meeting financial gaps in niche areas, Sidbi also provides need-based non financial services by adopting cluster-centric approach and scaling up promotion and development of the MSME sector.

Sidbi has designed several new products which will also provide consultancy and development services to the MSMEs. “We are going to open credit felicitation centres across the country. These centres will service all enterprises in 400-odd clusters across the country. Bank plans to cover all clusters during the current year,” said deputy managing director of Sidbi, NK Maini, while addressing media here.

Credit felicitation centres will provide a single window services to entrepreneurs. These services will include project feasibility studies, credit rating to approval of the credit to the unit. “This will be knows as syndication services where project consultancy will be provided by agencies and professionals accredited by the bank. We are also in talks with credit rating agency to have a unified rating scale for credit rating of MSMEs. There will also be a common application forms for bank loans. The entire process — from application by the entrepreneur to the approval of loan — will be completed in stipulated time of 2 months,” Maini added.

The bank has opened one of such centre at Ahmedabad with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and plans to add eight more at all places where Sidbi has a branch or extension counter in Gujarat. Sidbi has branches in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, Gandhidham, Vapi and two extension counters at Vatva and Jamnagar. “We are also planning to add one more extension counter in Mahesana district shortly,” Bhanoo said.

Apart from these, bank is also planning to add two new services for the development of the MSMEs. “Providing common marketing support to cluster or common raw material purchase facility to build common effluent treatment plants are also on our agenda. It will be termed as map the gap facilities. It will be provided as per the requirement of individual clusters,” Maini said.

It is also going to launch a website, which will handhold an entrepreneur right from the inception of the idea to project consultancy to actual implementation of the project, officials said.
