Chief minister Sheila Dikshit today ordered a thorough quality checking of all infrastructure projects, executed by her government, over which the Central Vigilance Commission has raised questions.

Top sources told PTI that Dikshit has directed chief secretary PK Tripathi to conduct thorough and immediate quality checking of all the projects mentioned by CVC for poor quality and standards.

"The chief minister has also issued direction to prepare a detailed report on deficiencies pointed out by the Chief Technical Examination wing of the CVC in its latest report," a source said.

Tripathi today asked senior PWD officials to carry out a "load test" on the Barapullah Nallah elevated road as CVC in its latest report mentioned about deficiencies in the project as well as questioned quality of construction material used in it, they said.

The four-km-long corridor, the first such stretch in the city, connecting Sarai Kale Khan to Jawaharlal Nehru Marg near Lodhi Colony, was constructed to ferry athletes and CWG officials between the Games Village and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium during the Commonwealth Games last October.

Asked about the CVC report mentioning deficiencies in several CWG projects executed by the city government, Dikshit only said "officials are looking into it and proper reply is being prepared".

The sources said Dikshit also directed the chief secretary to prepare a detailed response to the CVC report in coordination with executing agencies, particularly the PWD.

The Chief Technical Examination wing of the CVC in its fresh report, found deficiencies and use of sub-standard materials in certain CWG infrastructure projects.

The CTE has found deficiencies in construction material used in several flyovers and roads including Ghazipur flyover, Barapullah Nallah elevated road and Narayna flyover.

According to a recent report on deficiencies in Games-related works by CTE, higher rates, poor quality control and substandard material, among others, were observed in the PWD-approved projects worth Rs1,315.66 crore.

The anti-corruption watchdog has found deficiencies in 26 works worth Rs3,316.58 crore which were carried out by central and Delhi governments' civic and construction agencies.
