Crisis eased in Porbander, which had received around 22 inches of rain in a day and had remained submerged for a couple of days. Rains ceased in Porbander on Saturday, causing waters — which had accumulated to knee-deep levels on the streets — to start draining out. Water levels receded in the affected areas of south Gujarat as well.

The fresh forecast issued by the meteorological department in Ahmedabad said that there would be a ‘decrease in rainfall activity’ in Saurashtra and Kutch.

However, the forecast indicates that heavy to very heavy rains are likely in a few places in the Gujarat state, Daman and Diu, and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
