Sanjiv Bhatt wants SC to stay proceedings against him

Taking strong exception to the vindictive attitude of the Modi government against him, senior Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has sought the SC’s intervention in quashing the criminal proceedings reopened in a Jamnagar court relating to the death of a man who was arrested in the aftermath of the destruction of a mosque allegedly by some Sangh parivar activists in 2000.

The then Keshubhai Patel government had defended the police action and refused to grant sanction to prosecute Bhatt, who was posted as ASP in Jamanagar then, saying he acted in accordance with law and in the course of his duty.
