Two traders in Sanand were attacked by three youths, who then fled with a bag containing Rs15 lakh in cash. On Saturday morning at 8:15 am, the three men armed with sticks and knives attacked two brothers, who run a firm in Sanand marketing yard.

The brothers were on their way to pay money to the farmers who sell their produce at the marketing yard.

Hasmukh Gandhi and his brother Gautam own a firm called Adeshwar traders in Sanand’s marketing yard. They live at Gandhivas in Sanand’s Tapal chawk area. The brothers usually withdrew the money a day prior to distributing it to the farmers.

The attack took place on Saturday morning, when the Gandhi brothers were on their way to office on an Activa scooter. According to the victims, a white Alto car was parked near their residence from early morning, and the three men were following them since then.

Soon they were intercepted by the Alto car near Senghani Mata Temple. The driver of the car then came out and hit Hasmukh on the head with a stick. The unidentified man tried to snatch the cash bag, but Hasmukh fought back. Seeing this, two others came out of the car and threatened Hasmukh with knives.

Hasmukh then handed them the bag and they fled the scene.
But in their hurry to leave the place, they left behind the plastic baton with which they hit Hasmukh. It is similar to the one that is given to constables.

Following the sensational loot, Ahmedabad rural police cordoned off all the roads surrounding Sanand and have begun a search operation to nab the attackers.
