Rubabuddin Sheikh, brother of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, has filed an application before the CBI seeking investigation into the allegation made by IPS officer Rajnish Rai against PC Pande, OP Mathur and GL Singhal in his affidavit before CAT.

Sheikh has alleged that the central agency probing his brother’s fake encounter case has not recorded the statement of Rai, who was the first supervising officer of the case.

He has alleged that had the agency recorded the statement of Rai, the role of these officials (Pande, Mathur and Singhal) would have been disclosed and they could have been apprehended long back.

In his affidavit before CAT, Rai alleged that when he was in charge of the investigation, these officials had made several attempts to influence the investigation of the fake encounter case. He alleged that Pande had caused delay in preliminary inquiry, and he, along with the then home minister Amit Shah, had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Tulsi Prajapati.

Mathur too tried to influence the investigation while Singhal influenced the key witnesses in the case, Rai alleged.
Following Rai’s affidavit before CAT, Sheikh moved an application before the agency, seeking further probe into the
allegation made by Rai. He has asked the agency to record Rai’s statement.
