Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit today attributed "rise in people's income" as one of the key reasons behind price rise and appealed to citizens to be "aware and cautious" of not falling prey at the hands of hoarders.

"Price rise is a major problem for both the state and the Centre but there are reasons behind this, there has been a rise in people's income all across India. When such a thing happens, the manufacturers and businessmen are naturally encouraged to hike prices of goods and commodities," Dikshit said.

"Also when there is progress and development along with rise in income, then the problem of a little rise in prices will have to be borne," she said.

The chief minister was speaking at the felicitation ceremony of Congress MLA from Trinagar constituency Anil Bhardwaj who was appointed as parliamentary Secretary.

She noted that prime minister Manmohan Singh has said in
clear terms that prices will come down in the coming one or
two months, "so please be a little patient, steps are being
taken".

"Please be aware and cautious with hoarders, if anyone is selling products with increased prices then make a complaint against the individual, there are telephone numbers given for this. Call me if the number cannot be reached," the chief minister said.

Dikshit said opposition, especially the BJP, only complain about problems like price rise and electricity but never come up with any suggestions or solutions.

"Criticising is fine but you must be ready to offer solutions as well," she said.

She also said the developmental projects that are undertaken for the Commonwealth Games will remain with Delhiites because the Games will come and go in 13 days but projects like the  construction of more metro lines, modern buses, stadiums will not go away with it.
