Prominent industrialist Rajesh Adani of the Adani Group has withdrawn a petition filed against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Gujarat high court. The development came in the wake of the statement made by the counsel for the CBI that the agency will not arrest the businessman in the customs duty evasion case.

"We have made the statement that Rajesh Adani will fully co-operate with the CBI whenever needed and withdrawn our petition against the probe agency after the CBI's statement," said Prakash Thakkar, counsel for Adani.

Earlier, the court allowed Adani to go to Goa to give statement before the sleuths of the CBI.

Adani was arrested by the CBI on February 27 for allegedly evading customs duty on petroleum products, causing a loss of Rs1.07 crore to the state exchequer. He got bail the same day after his brother, Vasant Adani, filed a habeas corpus petition before the Gujarat high court. Based on Vasant Adani's petition, Justice RM Doshit granted him bail and ordered his release on the condition that he would not leave the city.
