The airline also said that it would soon start operations from Bangalore.

"We have launched our operation from...Amritsar from October 12 and keeping in my mind the potential of good business, it has been decided" to fly daily flights from Amritsar to Doha by March 2010, airline's chief executive Officer Akbar Al Baker told reporters during a press conference here.

With the launch of flights from Amritsar and Goa last month, "we are operational from 10 cities of India and very soon a new destination of Bangalore would be added in the list," he said.

He added at present the cities in India from where Qatar Airways' A-320 Airbus are operational are Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, Cochin, Kozhikode, Goa and Amritsar.

Regarding fleet expansion, Baker revealed that currently the airline has 71 aircraft and by 2013 the number of aircraft would be 110 apart from an already placed order for 220 aircraft. He said that on December 6, the airline would start its operation from Melbourne followed by its operation to Sydney in 2010. He said that a marvellous international airport was
being constructed at Doha, which would be completed by 2011.

Baker said, "Our airline is growing with an average growth of 35% per annum and we can see the business potential from Amritsar, which will definitely emerge as good business centre in the years to come and will provide us good freight business as well".
