The Teacher's Aptitude Test (TAT), scheduled to be conducted in June this year, is already in murky waters. With the exam nearing, candidates are seen preparing for it. But the state education department has to decide on the syllabus and exam dates.
Moreover, several candidates have fallen prey to a private website that promises to provide study material for TAT preparation at the price of Rs650.

A source requesting anonymity said, "A private website invites demand draft from the candidates worth Rs650 and promises to provide the study material at their doorstep. Interestingly, the education board itself hasn't yet decided the syllabus and has not given authority to any private publication firm to distribute study materials." How can a website lure candidates and charge fees in this situation?

The website repeatedly extends the date of delivering books. "In all, some 30,000 candidates across the state have fallen prey to it. This is cheating," added the source. Clarifying this, secretary of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), KR Zanzrukiya said, "We are aware about the complaint for which we have even clarified via an advertisement."

The education board recently carried an advertisement in a vernacular newspaper stating that the board has nothing to do with the website and that the board has not given permission to any private publication.

"Nothing is clear from the state education board regarding TAT. The candidates are eagerly waiting to get news from the board," added the source. In February this year, GSHSEB issued a notification stating that the recruitment of teachers and principals in schools will be done through TAT. It also said that the 250-mark test will be mandatory for getting a teaching job in grant-in-aid or private schools.
