The state government on Wednesday accused arrested IAS officer, Pradeep Sharma, of tampering with evidence and possessing a fake driving licence.

The government made these allegations in the Gujarat high court while opposing Sharma's bail plea. The IAS officer was arrested allegedly for involvement in a land scam in Bhuj.

Advocate general Kamal Trivedi told the court on Wednesday that when Sharma was arrested from Delhi, the police had recovered a laptop and a fake licence from his possession.

The laptop recovered from him contained several incriminating data and information, the advocate general said. He further stated that Sharma had allegedly attempted to tamper with evidence.

Sharma's lawyer SV Raju submitted that the IAS officer had not committed any of the irregularities that he has been accused of in the allotment of land for rehabilitation in Bhuj.

Further, the allocation list was approved and finalised by the state government and Sharma had abided by all the norms in force at that time, the lawyer said.

Raju further said that Sharma had been targeted by the state government because his brother, IPS officer Kuldip Sharma, was not on good terms with the state government. Sharma had moved the high court for bail after the Bhuj sessions court rejected his bail application.
