Charging the government of failing to address the issues facing common man, the opposition People Democratic Party today staged a protest here.

Led by former MLA Shanti Devi, over 1000 PDP activities took out a rally starting from Shankuntala area here and passed through various parts of the city, raising anti-government slogans.

They were, however, not allowed to move towards Raj Bhawan by the police, where PDP wanted to submit a memorandum to governor NN Vohra, officials said.

Speaking on the occasion the leaders of the PDP charged the state government led by the chief minister Omar Abdullah for failing to address issues affecting the common man.

"The price rise in all commodities and eatables have broken the back bone of the common man and black marketing and hoarding is going on and the government has failed to check it," they said.
