Our stand has been vindicated: K Rosaiah

Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah today said his government's stand on reservation for Muslims has been vindicated by the Supreme Court permitting it to provide reservation in jobs and education for backward members of the community.

The apex court stayed the high court judgment that nullified the 4% reservation for  economically- backward Muslims in the state.

"I am happy. I am quite satisfied. Our stand has been vindicated," Rosaiah said in a statement, reacting to the Supreme Court's interim order on the issue.

Reiterating his government's commitment to the welfare of Muslims, Rosaiah directed the government advocates and
officials to "put your heart and soul" into the case and
ensure argue it effectively before the Constitutional Bench of
the Supreme Court till the final hearing.

He congratulated Minorities Welfare Minister Syed Ahmadullah, BC Welfare Minister Mukesh Goud and Attorney General G E Vahanavati over the "first victory" in the case.
