A 50-year-old woman, who was the kingpin in the NRI boy abduction case, got a major respite when the city sessions court granted her anticipatory bail in the case. Geeta Pattani has played a key role in the kidnapping of 15-year-old NRI boy Jeet Patel and is wanted in the case which has been resolved by the police.
Anand Brahmbhatt, counsel for Geeta Pattani, has contended that the court should grant anticipatory bail to the woman in view of her family's vulnerable position. Brahmbhatt said, Geeta has six children and out of them three are minors. Therefore, they need the care and shelter of their mother.

He also argued that, Geeta is in a miserable state as her eldest daughter had to undergo a premature delivery and her baby boy died as she suffered great trauma following her mother's involvement in the case. Geeta has already got a lesson and the court should grant her anticipatory bail looking to her exceptional condition, the lawyer contended.

In December, Jeet Patel, the NRI boy of a family residing in Canada, was abducted by his maternal uncle to extort money.
However, the police solved the puzzle behind the kidnapping and arrested Vinod Patel, the boy's maternal uncle and two others. Geeta, a vegetable vendor, was having an affair with Vinod and she had played a key role in planning and executing the abduction of Jeet Patel.

Vinod had planned the abduction to extort money from Jeet parents. He was getting Rs25000 per month to take care of Jeet.
