The investigation committee at the National Institute of Design (NID) that was looking into the allegations against their faculty Krishnesh Mehta over laying undue emphasis on sex and related topics during academic sessions, has completed preparing their report. The three-member committee of the institute has submitted the report to the institute's director. The institute will now call the faculty and the alumnus for further questioning.

Referring to the development, NID director Pradyumna Vyas said, "We are analysing the content of the report and the facts and figures mentioned therein, before taking the next step. Following this report, we will be further questioning the faculty and the student."

The committee, comprising of the institute's academic registrar Vijaya Deshmukh and faculty members Anil Sinha and Akhil Succena, had earlier said that it will take into consideration the statements of various faculty, students and alumni of the institute while preparing its report.

Confirming the submission of the report, registrar Deshmukh said, "The report was prepared after taking the statements of various people from the NID community. The institute will take the final decision on the issue soon."

Earlier, NID alumnus Saurabh Kumar had written to the director and faculty members of the institute, alleging that the faculty Krishnesh Mehta laid undue strong emphasis on sex, sexual activities and genitals in his classes. Upon receiving the complaint, the institute had formed a committee and started investigations in the matter.

NID issue gets RTI activists' attention
The allegations against an NID faculty, of excessive stress on sex and related topics in academic sessions, as well as of encouragement to students to get nude in public, have raised curiosity among many across the country. The institute has even received an RTI application from an RTI activist from Delhi. The activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal, who had posed around 15 questions to the NID, said, "My RTI application intends to alert the authorities that we RTI activists are like watch dogs, and no wrong doing can be eye washed so easily. I haven't received an answer to the application yet."
