It seems that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi has decided to leave no stone unturned in his bid to win the assembly elections in 2012. It is quite significant that the CM has increased his engagements in public functions organised by the state government since the Sadhbhavna fast in Ahmedabad, rather than in his office. The CM, through his government, has planned a series of public programmes (read pre-election campaign) till March, 2012.

After starting the Sadbhavna fasts in all the districts and the municipal corporation areas of the state, his government has recently completed the Garib Kalyan Melas and Gunotsav in the state. In December, the annual ‘Rann Utsav’ in Kutch will start from December 9. Then there will be the large ICT (Information and Communication Technology) conference at Mahatma Mandir between December 15 and 17.

From 25 to 31 Dec the CM will keep Amdavadis busy at Kankaria Carnival, while the elections in 10,509 village panchayats in the state will be held on December 29. Then there will be planning of Garib Kalyan Melas in the municipal corporations and municipalities areas in the state.

Soon after that the preparations for the International Kite Festival will start. The event will feature the CM flying his ‘political’ kites of ‘Brand Gujarat’.  After that, it won’t be public events but most of the state IAS officers will be busy in preparations for the ‘Chintan Shibir’, which is likely to be held in February, before the budget session starts in March.
