Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat today said that the names of foreigners figuring in the electoral rolls would be deleted.

"I will ask the chief electoral officer (CEO) to delete all the names of the foreigners in the voting roll," Kamat told the state legislative assembly today.

The chief minister was replying to the cut motion moved by the Opposition on the floor of the house.

Earlier, BJP legislator Fransisco D’Souza had raised the issue of foreigners' names found on the electoral rolls.

The legislator has said that such an act was unlawful and a cause of concern for the security of the state.

Kamat said that with the election commission tightening the procedure, no person can enroll at two places on the rolls.

He said that the election related migration would cease once the new mechanism gets in place.
