The police it seems doesn't mind using force even on a minor to get some information. For them, an underage teen is no different from a hardened criminal.

The incident about alleged police brutality came to light when a 16-year-old, nabbed by the crime branch in connection with theft of bikes, was taken to Vejalpur police station on a transfer warrant.

The boy, who had been sent to the observation home in Khanpur after his arrest, was taken to Vejalpur on Thursday. But when he returned to the observation home, he was so seriously ill that he had to be admitted in the emergency department of VS Hospital. When Himesh (name changed) returned to the observation home he complained of severe chest pain.

"We called a doctor, who advised us to immediately shift him to VS Hospital," a source at the observation home told DNA.

The superintendent of observation home, Mayank Trivedi told DNA that the boy told them that he was severely beaten by the Vejalpur police.  However, Vejalpur police inspector JM Bharwad said no violence had taken place. "Himesh is trying to save his skin. We did not beat him," said Bharwad.  "The case was transferred to us by the  Crime Branch and there was nothing that we had to do. So where is the question of beating him," said Bharwad. So far no case has been registered against any police officials .
