Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi today demanded immediate sacking of Union women and child development minister  Krishna Tirath, after a newspaper advertisement given by her ministry carried photograph of a former Pakistan Air Force chief.

The minister and her officers are fully responsible for the goof up in the release of the advertisement, Joshi told PTI.

"Minister of state for women and child development Krishna Tirath must immediately be sacked for this goof up which has shamed the entire country," he said.

The photograph of former Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed in uniform appeared yesterday along with those of prime minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in a full-page newspaper advertisement given by Tirath's ministry to mark the National Girl Child Day.

The BJP MP from Varanasi said on one hand the PMO has immediately apologised for the act but on the other hand the minister concerned and the Congress spokespersons are trying to play down the issue, which is an irresponsible act.
